The Evening:
Film and Panel Talk
What is life like for queer people seeking asylum and queer refugees?
This evening session will watch the award-winning film 'Flee' after a wine and juice reception. This powerful animated film follows the story of a man under the alias Amin Nawabi, who shares his hidden past of fleeing his home country of Afghanistan to Denmark for the first time, discovering his queer identity along the journey. This film will be followed by a panel discussion with former queer refugees, queer people seeking asylum, and their allies. We warmly welcome you to join us.
Flee had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival in 2021, where it won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary section.
What is the evening session about?
"Depicting the refugee experience through vivid animation, Flee pushes the boundaries of documentary filmmaking to present a moving memoir of self-discovery" (Rotten Tomatoes).
Flee has a score of 91 out of 100 based on reviews from 33 critics, indicating "universal acclaim" on Metacritic.
